Night Train To Nashville on NY Times June 13 Bobby Hebb, Etta James, Joe Tex referenced

The Ultimate Playlist for a Boozy Brunch

In Sunday’s magazine, I offer suggestions for brunch drinking beyond the mimosa and bloody mary. Instead of choosing individual tracks for the accompanying playlist, I went with albums (remember those?) — mainly anthologies of American roots music, R.&B. and gospel. accompaniment:

5. “Night Train to Nashville: Music City Rhythm & Blues 1945-1970″ – A terrific showcase of the variety and depth of Nashville R.&B., with standout cuts from Bobby Hebb, Etta James and Joe Tex.
