The original was created in 1966 by Bobby Hebb, and the remake was done in 2012. I am of course talking about “Sunny”.. here is a reason that “Sunny” is one of the most popular covered songs of all time; everyone loves it. It is just so happy and positive.. impossible not to like this song. One of my best friends is actually named Sonny, and I like to think it is because his parents were into this track. Or it could be because they liked Sonny Liston.. I surely hope it’s not because they were into Sonny Bono. Whatever, getting back to the subject. Check out the original: Gotta love the message. Bobby Hebb passed away in 2010, unfortunately never seeing his track reaching the #1 position on the single chart. Closest he came was #2 in Norway and The Netherlands. The reason for me to pick this tune is that last summer I heard a very cool edit of the track. It is actually an edit of the Marvin Gaye version of the song, done by Mercury. It starts of very soulful and funky, staying close to the original. When the track hits the 1:20 mark it changes into a very smooth deep house feeling. Definitely one of my favourite 2012 remakes.
