Bill Root on Visual Radio Live Thursday Night August 16

On August 16, 1966, Bobby Hebb performed "Sunny", "Got My Mojo Working", Van McCoy's "For You" and two other titles ("Crazy Baby" and "Good Good Lovin') in Philadelphia on tour with THE BEATLES.

On August 16, 2012, 46 years later, Bobby's friend Bill Root will talk on Visual Radio Live with host Joe Viglione about Bill and Bobby's time in the navy and their band the PINE ISLAND PIRATES.

The Pine Island Pirates played for Chinese military leader

Customize your "Sunny" iTunes ringtone or ringback

Dear Bobby Hebb friends and fans -

With iTunes, currently anyone can convert Hebb's version of Sunny to a ringtone on their
iPhones fairly easily.

We tried it out and downloaded another Hebb master of Sunny from the iTunes store. You can also download a free ringtones app from the Apple app store that allows you to convert any track you've purchased in your iTunes library into a ringtone.   You can then upload and synch the Sunny ringtone it to your iPhone.

More information on the "Sunny" ringtone and ringback will be published here soon.

The Beatles have an extraordinary ability to sell recordings.   In 1966 they had Yesterday & Today which was considered a compilation

We're No. 1 The fake Beatles album Yesterday And Today once topped the charts

When iTunes announced in 2010 that it had finally reached an agreement with Apple Corps to digitally distribute the most celebrated catalog in rock ’n’ roll history, the only Beatles fans who might have had reason to protest were album-fetishizing purists. I admit I am one of those people. I’m totally an LP-obsessed perv. I believe Beatles albums are intended to be heard in a specific way, in a specific order, just like they’ve always been heard.

This album-centric way of looking at music is sort of like being a strict constructionist with the Constitution. It’s all about staying true to what the creators originally intended, progress be damned. I realize this makes me some kind of fuddy-duddy Luddite, and I am okay with this. I have no problem with using electricity on the Sabbath. But allowing Beatles LPs to be served up à la carte just seems wrong to me. http://www.avclub.com/articles/the-fake-beatles-album-yesterday-and-today-once-to,83753/

In 2012, for the 50th Anniversary, there's a strange on-line only compilation album  "Tomorrow Never Knows" that isn't a physical CD that you can purchase, just the songs you already can purchase from other discs in a new order.  Allegedly their most "iconic" songs, though that's hard to sort out, isn't it?

The Beatles: Tomorrow Never Knows
1. Revolution
2. Paperback Writer
3. And Your Bird Can Sing
4. Helter Skelter
5. Savoy Truffle
6. I'm Down
7. I've Got A Feeling
8. Back In The USSR
9. You Can't Do That
10. It's All Too Much
11. She Said, She Said
12. Hey Bulldog
13. Tomorrow Never Knows
14. The End

The Beatles have just released an iTunes digital exclusive compilation of songs that are considered “the most influential” from their career in one collection. Entitled “Tomorrow Never Knows,” there are 14 songs in the collection that span from 1964 - 1970. The promo film for “Hey Bulldog” is also available as a free stream or a download you can purchase. (Here it is on You Tube)
This compilation appears to be the only attempt The Beatles will make to mark their 50th anniversary. The songs, (all of which are included on previous iTunes releases) are:

"Sunny" with The Remains

The Remains backed Bobby on the tour

Are you one of the lucky individuals who went to Suffolk Downs racetrack in Revere on August 18, 1966?

Did you hear longtime North Shore resident Bobby Hebb (now back in Nashville) sing his immortal classic, “Sunny,” along with “Crazy Baby,” Van McCoy’s “For You,” a cover of Darlene Love’s “Good Good Lovin,” and the classic “Got My Mojo Working” backed up by Boston’s very own Barry Tashian & The Remains?

Perhaps you’ve read Tashian’s book, “Ticket To Ride: The Extraordinary Diary of The Beatles’ Last Tour” (Dowling Press, 1997)?
