LIBERACE FILM TO BROADCAST in 2012!

First announced in 2008, the biopic of Liberace finally found its home last week at HBO, with the cable network announcing that it will air the Steven Soderbergh-directed film after it starts production next summer. Titled "Behind The Candelabra," the film gets its name from the memoir of Scott Thorson, Liberace's younger lover. Michael Douglas, whose bout with cancer pushed back the film's initial production date, will play Liberace, while Matt Damon will tackle the role of Thorson.

Bobby Hebb's immortal classic, "Sunny", has touched on a number of important genres. As Kal Rudman wrote in the liner notes, it hit the trifecta with Pop, R & B and Country charting the song.

But "Sunny" has also become a Jazz standard, as well as a funk song; it is a song that can cross ALL genres. And someday we may release an album of different renditions of "Sunny" that touches those unique and very distinctive styles of music.

SPACE AGE BACHELOR PAD and NORTHERN SOUL are two very hip trends which have Bobby Hebb as a hero of the genre. We will explore this in a future essay in more detail.
