Compilation Profile: JAZZ FOR WHEN YOU ARE ALONE

From: THE BOBBY HEBB ENCYCLOPEDIA

Dear Bobby Hebb fans:

JAZZ FOR WHEN YOU'RE ALONE was released by 32 Jazz and produced by Adam Dorn; the compilation series was produced by Joel Dorn who gives a nod to Buzz Curtis in the brief liner notes.  Curtis released many similar compilation albums for radio stations in the 1960s and 1970s, some including Bobby Hebb's version of "Sunny", which we will compile here at another date.

This eleven song collection contains a nine minute and forty-five second version of "Sunny" performed by Les McCann, track 4.  It is the live version from the How's Your Mother LP

There are two other renditions of "Sunny" by Les McCann that I'm aware of; the Mercury 45 by Jerry Ross and the lengthier Part 2 produced by Jerry Ross mentioned previously.

Also on this CD are Wilson Jackson & Pat Martino opening the CD performing "Blue Velvet" and Pat Martino closing out the disc with "You Don't Know What Love Is".  Pat Martino has covered "Sunny" many times, including a famous rendition with jazz guitarist John Scofield.

We'll be posting the compilations that contain versions of Sunny on this blog...they are perpetual...and many....

I purchased this particular one on eBay on 6/17/12 and received it on June 22, 2012.   Quick response in 5 days from Aimee at Bulky Basement.  Thanks!
