the Bobby Hebb / Sunny Anthology Vol. 1
As we explore the recordings of Bobby Hebb on this historic Americana adventure that is the boxed set
Proud Soul Heritage
The Bobby Hebb / Sunny Anthology Vol. 1
we have discovered some treasures Bobby Hebb fans aren't even aware of, including a very rare rendition of "Indiana" or "Back Home Again in Indiana", covered by many, many people... from Louis Armstrong to Jim Nabors (check out the YouTubes below) and many others.

Bobby gives a monologue before going into the song - here's the text from CD3 as a preview to the wonderful shape of things to come.
Bobby Hebb speaks to the audience:
"Thank you very much, you know, years ago, when I was a little boy my parents would take me up and down a street called Indiana Avenue, they called it "The Avenue." Some people wanted to watch people drive a race car, but there were other things happening in this town, there were people called Wes and Monk Montgomery* (plays some guitar) and it was in Indianapolis. I ran into some very hip musicians in Indianapolis. Also in a place called Evansville (plays more guitar)
*Wes and Monk Montgomery were known as "The Montgomery Brothers."

Wes Montgomery went on to record a terrific version of Bobby Hebb's "Sunny" (click to listen)
(starts singing) "When I dream about that moonlight on the Wabash...I dream all about ....my Indiana home....

Back home again in Indiana,
And it seems that I can see
The gleaming candle light, still burning bright,
Through the Sycamores for me.
The new-mown hay sends all its fragrance
Through the fields I used to roam.
When I dream about the moonlight on the Wabash Then I long for my Indiana home.
(When I dream about the moonlight on the Wabash
Then I long for my Indiana home sweet home)
Back home again in Indiana...
(Indiana Indiana Indiana home)
And it seems that I can see
The gleaming candle light, still burning bright,
Through the Sycamores for me.
The new-mown hay sends all its fragrance
Through the fields I used to roam.
When I dream about the moonlight on the Wabash Then I long for my Indiana home.
(When I dream about the moonlight on the Wabash
Then I long for my Indiana home sweet home)
Back home again in Indiana...
(Indiana Indiana Indiana home)
