On his way to becoming one of Nashville’s most consequential blues and R&B singers, James “Nick” Nixon had it hard.“I sang in church, then went into opera,” he says. “I had a high school choir director named William Lathon, who was a famous opera singer, and he trained me. The hardest thing I’ve ever done is to learn how not to sing so well, so I could do rock ’n’ roll and blues.”
Nixon has books filled with photos of times spent with Moore, B.B. King, Lazy Lester, Rufus Thomas, Bobby Hebb, Cootie Stark, cousin (and queen of Nashville blues) Marion James and others, but ask him for a career highlight and he’ll tell you about the time he had to visit someone in a hospital.

Before the announcement of the final results of this "New Star" on D8, the singer is singing income effect "Sunny," Bobby Hebb as popularized by the resumption of Boney M and Christophe Willem had interpreted in his first premium Live at the Pavillon Baltard in 2006.
